Board
KREATE formed an independent legal entity with management personnel cross-utilized with the Astrophysics Research Centre (ARC). It has governance structures that oversee the KREATE operations. A board, consisting of the KREATE directors, facilitates and monitors the centre’s financials.
The KREATE Board has six directors: one executive Director (Prof Kavilan Moodley) and five non-executive Directors (Subashnee Moodley, Jonathan Naidoo, Shabashni Sanjith, Prof Serestina Viriri and Dr Nqobile Gumede). The board meets quarterly. Prof Serestina Viriri is the chairperson of the board.

Project Steering Committee (PSC)
The centre has a PSC that works with the centre director to guide the centre strategy and programming. The PSC is chaired by the KREATE director (Prof Kavilan Moodley), and consists of a representative from UKZN research (Mr Anban Pillay), a representative from the eThekwini Development Unit (Mr Takalani Rathiyaya), and a representative local industry leader (Mr Nkululeko Mthembu). The PSC meets quarterly.

KREATE Lab
The KREATE Lab Management Committee (LMC) is responsible for the operation of the KREATE lab and the implementation of the four programmes. The LMC is composed of two UKZN representatives for Computer Science department. The KREATE administrator, lab assistant and science outreach officer also attend LMC meetings. The LMC meets weekly.
